The 2nd International Conference on Natural Products and Chronic Diseases 2024 aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, and research scientists to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Natural Products and Chronic Diseases. The premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the latest innovations, trends, and concerns as well as the practical challenges faced and solutions adopted in the field of Natural Products and Chronic Diseases.

Opening Speech
Prof. Dr. Ernawati Sinaga, M.S., Apt. is vice rector for research, community service and cooperation at a Universitas Nasional, her research in the fields of Natural Materials, Pharmacy, Biochemistry-Molecular Biology. She completed doctoral studies in 2001 at the Doctoral Program in Chemistry, Biochemistry-Molecular Biology Specialization, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Indonesia. Her research was carried out at the Dept. Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS USA). In professional organizations, she has been the central administrator of PBBMI (Indonesian Association of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) from 2015 until now and the central administrator of IAI (Indonesian Pharmacists Association) from 2010 until now. She has also been the chief editor of the Indonesian Pharmacy Journal (accredited) and publisher of the Indonesian Pharmacy Graduate Association from 2002 until now.

Prof. Ilya Raskin, Ph.D.
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey
Prof. Raskin earned an international reputation through his work on plant growth regulation, plant immunity to diseases, phytoremediation, and, in the last decade, for his research in plant-derived functional foods and medicines. He is also actively involved in international bioexploration and conservation. Prof. Raskin’s research is featured in over 200 scientific publications and in numerous popular press articles. He has been listed as one of 108 most cited researchers in Plant and Animal Science (Institute of Scientific Information). Among his most cited scientific publications are four cover articles in Science and Nature. Prof. Raskin was awarded 20 patents covering the discoveries made in his laboratory. Prof. Raskin has received a number of prestigious awards, including the Albert Shull Award for outstanding contributions to plant biology and the Thomas Alva Edison Patent Award for revolutionary product innovation and scientific breakthrough. Prof. Raskin was named the Century Innovator in Botany by the U.S. News & World Report.

Former Director US NIH Office of Dietary Supplements; Adjunct Professor of Pharmacognosy, National Center for Natural Products Research, University of Mississippi
Betz earned numerous awards, including the Norman R. Farnsworth Award for Excellence in Botanical Research, the Varro E. Tyler Prize for outstanding scientific contributions to the field of dietary supplements, the Herbal Insight Award for contributions to the botanical sciences, the AOAC International Harvey W. Wiley Award for Excellence and Development of Analytical Methods and the G.H. Neil Towers Award. He received an Office of the Director Honor Award for contributions toward establishing and developing the ODS Vitamin D Standardization Program.
Paula N. Brown, PhD.
Canada Research Chair, Phytoanalytics
Director of Applied Research, Natural Health & Food Products, BCIT
Dr. Brown is a Fellow of AOAC International and serves as has an advisor to the American Botanical Council and United States Pharmacopoeia. Dr. Brown is the 2024 recipient of the Varro E. Tyler Award from the American Society for Pharmacognosy and 2022 recipient of the AOAC International Harvey W. Wiley Award. She has received the Norman Farnsworth Award (ABC, 2021) for Excellence in Botanical Research, the Water’s Award for Innovations in Natural Product Research (ASP 2019), Herbal Insight Award (AHPA 2017), and Neil Towers Award (NHPRS, 2017). She has served as an advisor to Health Canada as a member of the NHP Program Advisory Committee, the Self-care Task Force and most recently as Co-Chair of the Science Advisory Committee for Health Products containing Cannabis.
